Incidence of extreme climatic events
Shane Cridland
In the rangelands there is an increase in photosynthetic activity, or "greenness", after rainfall. The magnitude of this increase is an indicator of "quality of the season". In this analysis this increase is estimated using the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and then compared temporally to give relative ratings of 'quality of the season'. These ratings are then displayed as images to give pictures of the variation in season quality across the landscape. The images are then analysed to produce across-season information.
