Indices of change in ecosystem function (cover) for northern South Australia using Landsat TM

This project used remote sensing to provide objective and repeatable data on rangeland condition for an area of nearly 50,000 kmē in the Marla-Oodnadatta Soil Conservation District, in northern South Australia. This is the first time grazing gradient methods have been used to report on rangeland condition at a regional scale within an operational context. The grazing gradient methodology will assist rangeland management in South Australia and has the potential to be applied elsewhere in Australia's rangelands, particularly in areas with similar landscape types and grazing systems to those of this test region.
