December 1990

Images show a hard red site located on the Cobar peneplain. Canopy cover throughout the period averages 14%, being dominated by narrow-19leafed hopbush (Dodonaea viscosa) and white cypress pine (Callitris glaucophylla) that shows a slight increase over time. Pasture at the site is initially dominated by saffron thistle (Carthamus lanatus) and spear grass. There is a lower presence of saffron thistle and more desirable perennial species present such as Eragrostis sp and Danthonia sp in the later years. The site is dominated by summer annuals in 1998.

May 1991

Images show a granite site on the Cobar peneplain. There is an average canopy cover of 11% throughout the period being dominated by poplar box (Eucalyptus populnea) and Dwyer's mallee gum (Eucalyptus dwyeri). The site shows an improvement in condition over time being indicated by an increase in the frequency of desirable perennial grasses such as Digitaria sp, Danthonia sp, Enterapogon sp and Paspalidium sp. Recorded also is an increase in the soil surface stability. Biomass ranges from a low of 98 kg/ha in 1997 to around 1600 kg/ha in 2000. The site responded well to good rains in early 2000.
